Skyscrapers enhance image of the city, state, and nation

Before Petronas towers were built, there was no Icon or Symbol for Kuala Lumpur. It was just another capital city. With Petronas towers , Kuala Lumpur proved to the world the arrival of Malaysia as a modern nation willing and able to play its role. Same is the case with Taiwan. The completion of Taipei 101 brought positive image to Asia as a whole. Dubai with its Burj is on the verge of keeping entire world spell bound for decades to come.

These landmark, Iconic buildings bring tens of millions of tourists a year. Just to reach the observation deck and enjoy the panoramic views for a few minutes, visitors stand in the queue for hours and pay hefty amounts which, in itself is a constant stream of revenue to the developers not to mention tens, or even hundreds of millions of dollars they collect from corporations on leases and rentals year after year.

The surrounding areas also benefit immensely due to proximity to skyscrapers. They can make much more money on leases, and hence the property values jump ten fold or even more.

National image gets immense boost and confidence among people about themselves improves.

Skyscrapers enhance value

Since tall buildings utilize the space above ground, it leaves much more ground space to be left for wider roads, pedestrian paths, parks, play grounds etc.

The problem with urban India, among other things, is the narrow, congested roads that were built many decades ago to cater to a much smaller population that existed then. Now with booming economy, growing paychecks, and explosive growth of high paying jobs, the automobile owning section of population is growing rapidly. Add to this the waves of people flocking from villages and small towns to seek better economic opportunities in cities. This makes the road congestion problem that much worse.

Skyscrapers allow builders to expand vertically leaving the land to be used for wider roads. This leads to faster, safer and efficient mode of transportation.
